Ravello beta service description

Thanks for your interest in the Ravello beta. Our beta is open for everyone, and you can try it for free. We don’t require a credit card or your cloud credentials.

Our beta is intended for good faith users who are keen to understand the Ravello service and evaluate how it may benefit their organizations and help them supercharge their application development process.

To minimize the risk that our service will be used for malicious purposes, we first approve your beta request as a “restricted account”. This account has the following limitations*:

  1. Number of VMs running simultaneously: 8.
  2. Number of CPU hours per month - 4,320 CPU hours (3 dual core VMs)
  3. Network limitations:
    1. Bandwidth out: 5 Mbit/sec
    2. Bandwidth in: unlimited
    3. TCP outgoing connection establishment rate: 5/sec
    4. UDP outgoing packets rate: 20/sec

We have designed these limitations to enable common legitimate use-cases while discouraging malicious use. If, however, these restrictions don’t fit your needs, and you require more resources, simply click on the “unlock my account” button in the application. We may need to contact you via email or over the phone to verify your request and use-case. We try to keep this process as simple as possible, and in most cases, email correspondence will suffice. Once we “unlock” your account, you will be able to use your free beta account up to the following restrictions*:

  1. Number of VMs: running simultaneously 15.
  2. Number of CPU hours per month: 8,640 CPU hours (6 dual core VMs)
  3. Network limitations:
    1. Bandwidth out: unlimited
    2. Bandwidth in: unlimited
    3. TCP outgoing connection establishment rate: 25/sec
    4. UDP outgoing packets rate: 100/sec

If you need even more resources, don’t hesitate to email us at support@ravellosystems.com and we will most likely be able to accommodate your request.

In addition, since we are just starting out and are trying to minimize our cost for the beta program, we may reach out to you via email periodically and request you to switch off inactive VMs. You will always be able to log back into Ravello and start them up again as required.

Thank you, and we hope you benefit significantly from using Ravello. As always, we are keen to get your feedback, both good and bad, so that we can improve and make Ravello more valuable for you.

(*we reserve the right to change these restrictions as we gather more data).
