Sales/System Engineer - US Sales (Palo Alto/SF)

Ravello is looking for a candidate to join our Sales Engineering team. Sales Engineering is the front line, customer-facing function in Ravello that is directly charged with acquiring new customers, growing usage in our customer base, and our Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR).

Understanding the Perfect Ravello Candidate:

  • Very technical, ideally with experience in:
    • Networking technologies (Must have)
    • Virtualization (Nice to have)
    • Application development (Nice to have)
    • Programming experience (Nice to Have)
    • Scripting (Must have)
    • Dev/test processes, knowledge of QA (Nice to have)
  • Customer facing with great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Often we find the best candidates for Ravello are former Sales Engineers or technical individuals whom find they play the role of the technical expert in the sales cycle. These individuals are very comfortable doing the communication, presentation and proposing to the customer and are wondering why they are being paid less than the sales person?
  • Ravello is the perfect place for an aspirational Sales Engineer whom would like more recognition and financial upside for the key role they are playing in effecting new business but does not want to be a pure sales person. Our best candidates don't care for the "salesy" side of selling and do not think of themselves as a sales person.
  • At Ravello we interface with our customers as "Systems Engineers" who facilitate, technically advise, and collaborate technically with our customers to enable Ravello customers to define and run workloads on our SAAS.
    • This means that Ravello System Engineers enjoy the stimulation of spending their days immersed in the technical challenges of a wide and interesting range of customer use cases.
    • And at the same time, our Systems Engineers can look at the monthly spend of their customers and see the specific quantifiable contribution to the revenue that they are making.
    • We work against these goals to drive the Ravello business forward
  • We are a tight knit team and we cover a very broad set of technical issues so the perfect Ravello candidate is also:
    • Interested in collaboration
    • Works well in a team environment where knowledge sharing, task hand off, documentation and contribution to FAQ and K-bases is a core part of our model
  • The business model is what is called a High Velocity "Inside" organization. This means:
    • We are centrally located in the main Ravello offices in a team environment
    • We do not travel except to a few annual shows like AWS RE: Invent, VMWorld, etc.
    • We talk to many customers in a typical day

A typical day for us is fast paced and involves collaborative technical work to take customers from trial account status to paying customer status through demos, tech education sessions, technical assistance and general management of Proof of Concepts.

Ravello's technology is at the epicenter of what is hot in the industry:

  • Next level virtualization (Nested virtualization)
  • Software defined networking (SDN)
  • Delivered as a SaaS
  • Pay-per-use business model
