Ravello announces free lab service for 2015 vExperts
PALO ALTO Calif - June 18, 2015 - Ravello Systems, the world’s leading nested virtualization company, today announced the availability of Ravello’s free lab service for all 2015 vExperts. With this offering, Ravello is empowering the VMware community with cloud-based labs in order to accelerate innovation in virtualization. Ravello is providing all 2015 vExperts with free access to its cloud infrastructure, with 1,000 CPU hours per month, for running VMware labs with vCenter and nested ESXi on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud.
Ravello’s Smart Labs are powered by a virtual overlay cloud with software-defined networking. Ravello can run unmodified VMware and KVM virtual machines and virtual appliances, in a fully fenced environment, with complete layer 2 access in the public cloud. In addition, Ravello has a “blueprinting” mechanism that allows entire multi-node labs to be saved as snapshots and rapidly re-deployed. Blueprints can be shared within teams and across communities. Since being founded in 2011, Ravello has seen widespread adoption in the virtualization community and is already serving as the leading choice for enterprises that have large VMware deployments and need to seamlessly leverage capacity from AWS and Google Cloud without any migration.
Nested ESXi labs on AWS or Google Cloud
In recent times, Ravello added new capabilities that allow entire hypervisor labs with multiple ESXi or KVM nodes to run on AWS and Google, creating a unique enabler for infrastructure labs. Previously it was impossible to run the ESXi hypervisor on a public cloud, but Ravello has made it possible by implementing hardware extensions such as Intel VT and AMD SVM in software, in its HVX platform. Current Ravello users are running labs with complex environments such as multi-node VMware deployments with vCenter, VSAN, NSX, VMware Integrated OpenStack and partner products such as Veeam.
“We are providing this free service for vExperts in order to enable the pioneers in the virtualization community and empower them with more resources to innovate”, said Gal Moav, Vice President of Product Management at Ravello Systems. “Ravello’s nested ESXi labs take virtualization to the next frontier by eliminating hardware constraints and bringing cloud economics to infrastructure labs. We are providing this free service for vExperts in order to enable the pioneers in the virtualization community and empower those who think in the next”.
